Hundreds of homeless children roam the streets without adults
to take care of them. They get food for themselves, even if it means they have
to scavenge in dumpsters for food thrown by other people. Sadly, most of these
children end up begging for food just to survive a day in the streets.
According to a 1998 report titled “Situation of the Youth in
the Philippines”, there were about 1.5 million street children in the
Philippines.
Facebook user Geo Tolentino Ringor and her husband John
Benedict went to a Jollibee restaurant in Quezon City in the Philippines, when
her husband noticed a little boy asking for alms. John told his wife to buy an
extra meal, to be given to the young boy.
On their way out of the said restaurant, they notice the
same boy outside. But he wasn’t alone. He was feeding his younger sister the
meal they gave him.
With Christmas just around the corner, these children are
probably going to celebrate alone and with probably nothing to celebrate with.
But with this couple’s act of kindness, we are sure that was the best meal
they’ve had in a long time.
